Frequently Asked Questions

June Portal FAQ

Pricing, practice-management integrations, AI, HIPAA, the patient app, and more.

What is June Portal?

June Portal is a patient app and practice portal built by dentists, for dental practices. It plugs into your existing practice-management system, and it gives patients an app that looks and feels like your practice's own: your name, your logo, your colors. Patients schedule, pay bills, sign forms, and message your front desk. Your team runs it from a portal synced to the real schedule. There are two ways to use June: with June Payments, or through a monthly software-only plan.

How much does June cost?

June offers two ways to use the platform. Practices that process payments through June receive the June platform without a separate software subscription, including payment workflows and memberships. Practices that prefer to keep their existing processor can use June through a monthly software plan. June payment features and memberships are not included with the software-only plan. Contact June for current pricing and payment-processing details.

Can I use June without changing my payment processor?

Yes. You can keep your existing processor and use June through a monthly software plan. June's payment features and memberships are not included with that plan.

Does June include payment processing?

June payment functionality is available to practices using June Payments. This includes applicable patient-payment and payment-workflow features. Practices using the software-only plan keep their existing processor and do not use June's payment features.

Which practice-management systems does June Portal work with?

June is built to work with 95% of dental practice-management systems, including write-back of online bookings to the real schedule. Systems are activated as practices need them. Adding support is a configuration step, not a rebuild, so we can light up a new one in a weekend. If you're on something else, ask.

Does June Portal replace my practice-management system?

No. June works with your PMS instead of replacing it. It reads your schedule, availability, and patient data through a secure integration, and writes online bookings back to the right provider and operatory. Your team keeps working in the software they already know. There's no rip-and-replace, no double entry, and no retraining.

What does June Portal replace?

Most practices arrive at June paying separately for a reminder or texting service, an online-forms tool, a payment link, a review-request tool, and sometimes a membership-plan vendor. June covers all of those, plus scheduling, treatment-plan acceptance, and analytics. Payment and membership functionality is available to practices using June Payments. Practices generally end up cancelling several monthly bills.

Does June use AI, and is it safe with patient information?

Yes to both. June's AI runs on HIPAA-covered infrastructure under a signed Business Associate Agreement. June writes clinical notes from a recorded visit, writes the plain-language visit summary the patient reads, suggests replies to patient messages for staff to approve, builds a digital form from a scan of your paper one, reads insurance EOBs, and answers questions about your practice numbers asked in plain English.

Can June write my clinical notes?

Yes. Record the visit and June drafts the clinical note for you to review and sign. The same recording also produces a separate, plain-language summary written for the patient, explaining what was done and what happens next in words they'll understand. You review both before anything is saved or sent. Charting stops being the thing you do after hours.

Does June help my front desk answer patient messages?

Yes. When a patient messages your office, June suggests replies your team can read, edit, and send. Nothing is ever sent automatically. A person approves every message. It's fastest on the questions your front desk answers twenty times a week, which is most of them.

Can I ask June questions about my practice numbers?

Yes. Ask in plain English. For example, "how many new patients did we see last month" or "what's our hygiene reappointment rate". June answers from your synced practice data rather than making you build a report. There's also a help assistant that answers how-to questions about June itself, aware of the page you're on.

Does June do periodontal charting?

Yes, by voice. Call out the probing depths and June records them, understanding dental shorthand and handling missing teeth. The completed chart and its note write back into your practice-management system, so nobody types while you probe and nobody re-enters it afterward.

How does June fill appointments that fall through?

June works the waitlist automatically. When a slot opens, it texts the patients who wanted an earlier appointment, in order, and the first to accept takes the time. Your front desk doesn't make the calls. The schedule fills while they're doing something else.

How do patients get appointment reminders?

As push notifications in your practice's own app, so the reminder arrives with your name on it rather than from an unrecognized number. Patients add the appointment to their phone's calendar in one tap. Patients without the app still get reminders by text.

Is there a June Portal app my patients can download?

Yes. Patients download June from the App Store on iPhone or Google Play on Android, and once they're connected to your practice it opens as your practice's branded app with push notifications. There's also an install-from-link option that puts it straight on the home screen. Patients who don't want to install anything can do everything from a normal web browser.

Does online booking actually land on my real schedule?

Yes, and this is where most online booking falls down. June's scheduling is built around how your practice books: your appointment types and lengths, your providers, your operatories, your blockouts. Patients book real appointments for real treatment, scheduled the way your front desk would have done it. The booking writes back to your practice-management system in the right operatory under the right provider. Staff can approve requests first if you prefer to check them.

How hard is it to switch to June from what we use now?

Easier than the last time you changed software, because of one feature we built for exactly this. During onboarding June forwards its alerts as batched texts or emails into the inbox your front desk already watches, including your current vendor's number. Your team keeps looking where it always looks while it learns June, instead of having to remember to check two systems at once. Your PMS doesn't change at all.

Can patients see their X-rays in the June app?

Yes. Radiographs and intraoral photos sync from your imaging software into the patient's app, so they can look at their own images alongside the post-op instructions for the work they just had done. Most patients have never been shown their own X-rays outside the chair. It's one of the things they tell their friends about.

Is June Portal HIPAA compliant?

June is built for HIPAA. Every view of patient health information is logged. Staff accounts use multi-factor authentication with lockout protection. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest, each practice's records are isolated from every other practice's, and a session can be revoked instantly. June signs a Business Associate Agreement with your practice, and the subprocessor list is published at juneportal.com/subprocessors.

Can patients pay their bills through June?

Yes, for practices using June Payments. Patients see what they owe and pay online, in the app or from a secure link sent by text. The payment posts back to their record automatically. Practices use this to collect patient portions without mailing statements or reading card numbers over the phone. Card numbers are never stored in June. Practices on the software-only plan keep their existing processor and do not use June's payment features.

What happens to patients who don't use the app?

Nothing changes for them. Staff messages reach them as ordinary text messages, forms can be filled in from a plain link, and your front desk keeps handling anyone who'd rather call. June takes work off the desk for the patients who serve themselves. It doesn't leave everyone else behind.

How is June Portal different from Weave or NexHealth?

Two things are structural. With June Payments, the June platform is included without a separate software subscription. A monthly software-only option is available for practices that keep their existing processor. And the patient app carries your practice's branding rather than the vendor's. June also includes things those products generally sell separately or not at all: in-house membership plans, signed treatment-plan acceptance, practice analytics, and HIPAA-covered AI for clinical notes and front-desk drafting. Who built June Portal?

Practicing dentists. June was built inside a working dental office, Walnut Creek Dentists, and the team still uses it there every day. It exists because the patient tools bundled with practice-management software were a decade behind, and every alternative meant another monthly bill with another company's name on the app.

Can June help my practice get more Google reviews?

Yes. After a visit June asks the patient how it went and points the happy ones to Google, with reporting so you can see response rates. Review volume and recency now weigh heavily in which practices Google and AI assistants recommend, so this does more for new-patient flow than it used to.

Does June support dental membership plans?

Yes. Membership functionality is available to practices using June Payments. Memberships are not included with the software-only plan.

You set the plan and the per-procedure discounts, including family pricing. Patients enroll and pay through the app on auto-billing, and your team sees the roster and status in the portal.

How do digital forms work in June?

You build a form once, with ten field types, conditional logic, and e-signature. If you already have a paper form you like, June can build the digital version from a scan of it. Forms send themselves before appointments, patients complete them at home, and signatures are stamped with IP address and time. Completed forms land in the staff inbox for filing.
